May 9, 2014 Update!

Meeting for runners planning on being out next year is Wednesday, May 14 during Seminar in room 116 (Coach Daniels’ room).

Morning runs are from 6:30 am to 7:30 am.  Water is provided in coolers.  In case of lightning and dangerous weather the runs are cancelled.  Call Coach Bozarth at 913-620-1257  or check www.oexc.com after 6:00 am to find out if the runs are cancelled.  We will also have website that will announce cancellations, the address will be sent to you by mail this summer. Schools cannot be accessed for restrooms or water.

November 1, 2013:  The final team dinner will be tonight at Nick Hinrichs home.  Thank you to everyone for all your help this season! Directions to the Hinrich’s house from OE:

7:15….Bus leaves for Rimrock Farm

8:15….Bus arrives at Rimrock Farm, help set up camps. Course walk around 8:30.

10:00…Class 3A Girls race

10:30…Class 6A Boys race…5k….3 team trophies…20 medals

11:00….Class 5A Girls race

11:30….Class 3A Boys race

12:00…. Class 6A Girls race….4k….3 team trophies…20 medals.

October 27:  The Regional Team had a great meet yesterday! Both the boys and girls teams are going to State!

If you ordered photos from the professional photographer, they are ready to be picked up. Please  have your runner go to Coach Daniels room to collect them.

October 23rd:  Thank you for a great season. I know we are all wishing our Regional and State runners a great meet this weekend. Remember, the entire team is invited to come to the Regional meet this Saturday at Lone Elm Park starting at 2:00pm.

Donut Run
At the end of August the OEXC Coaching staff puts on a mock meet at Olathe East. Parent volunteers provide a snack table full of donuts, bagels, fruit and beverages for the runners to enjoy after the meet. Parents are encouraged to attend and bring your cameras to capture memories of all the wacky “uniforms” that each team comes up with.
Spaghetti Dinners
Each week during the season we will have a spaghetti dinner for the entire team. One family will volunteer to Host at their home, and we will ask for 5 other families to volunteer to provide the necessary food items. This is a great opportunity for the runners to strengthen their friendships with teammates, as well as filling their bodies with the carbs needed for the race the following day!
Snack Tables
At each meet, a group of parents are asked to provide a healthy selection of snacks for the runners including: oranges, granola bars and PB&J sandwiches.
Motivational Gift Committee
Responsible for the motivational gifts that are given to the runners before each meet (handed out at the spaghetti dinners). The committee will meet 3-4 times during the season to select/make/assemble the motivational gifts and discuss OEXC Booster Club Scholarships.
Banquet Committee
Responsible for the end of season banquet including: ordering food, decorating, serving, senior posters, picture placemats, coaches gifts, cake table, RSVP and clean-up. The planning committee will meet as needed before the end of year banquet.
Digital Picture Taking / Button Making / Photo Sheets
Responsible for taking digital pictures of each runner and coaches, setting up the pictures to be printed for buttons and photo sheets, going up to the District Offices to make the parent buttons and laminated photo sheets, organizing packets to be handed out at the first meet.
Bus Decorating Committee
Responsible for developing themes and decorating buses for the Sunflower League and State Meets.
Host of the OE Class Classic
Responsible for assisting the coaching staff with the OE Class Classic including: directing parking of cars and buses (before the event), concession stand, working the chute and helping mow grass.

Donut Run Itinerary 31AUG2013

  • 6:30 am…..School locker rooms open
  • 7:00 am….All teams meet for the donut run course walkthrough/jog. Meet at the starting line.
  • 7:45 am….All teams report tot eh starting line for introductions
  • 8:00 am….Donut Run Race Start!!!
  • 8:30 am….Community Fun Run
  • 8:45 am….Awards at the finish line by Coach Bo’s truck
  • Afterwards….Donuts and Bagels and Fun and course pickup.

If there are thunderstorms, meet in the commons. If the storms continue a decision will be made at 8:30 to either hold the Donut Run or cancel. The Donut Run will not be made up.
